The Official Promotion of the 2022 World Rafting Championship Has Started

Program of the World Rafting Championship 2022 was presented last night in Banja Luka to media representatives, caterers and members of international and tourist organizations.

Aleksandar Pastir, president of the Rafting Club “Kanjon” and organizer of the World Championship, says that despite the difficult period of the virus pandemic and crisis in the world, he expects a record number of competitors, about eighty teams from thirty countries and a large number of tourists in Banja Luka and Foča.

– This is a great opportunity to present to the world the tourist potentials we have and the rivers that are the pearl of Europe and the world, especially when it comes to rafting. The footage of the races and the atmosphere on Vrbas and Tara, says Pastir, will be seen by over a billion people around the world through media agencies with which we have agreed to cooperate.

– The candidacy for the World Championship came a year earlier than expected, says Milena Kolobarić, captain of the women’s national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although we have a rejuvenated team and are a year short for training, we will do our best to achieve the best result.

The men’s national teams are striving for medals. We expect that the advantage of the home trail and the great experience that team members have in world and European competitions will bring us a medal that has always escaped by a place or two in previous championships, says Dragan Babic, captain of the men’s national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The opening ceremony of the World Rafting Champonship is scheduled for May 26 on the banks of the Vrbas river next to the Fortress Kastel, and the organizers say this will be a spectacle that has not been organized in BiH. Competitors will show their strength and skills on the waves of Vrbas in three disciplines, sprint, head -to-head and slalom, while the fourth discipline of downriver will be organized on Tara.

World Rafting Championship is organized by the Rafting Club “Kanjon” under the general patronage of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, the City of Banja Luka and the Municipality of Foča. The championship is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the project “Developing Sustainable Tourism (Turizam) in Bosnia and Herzegovina”. We are honored to be part of the foreign assistance program through which USAID provides economic and humanitarian assistance in more than 80 countries around the world.

We express gratitue to our general media bradcaster Radio Television of the Republic of Srpska, which will broadcast the Opening Ceremony and the atmosphere on Vrbas and Tara.

With the presentation of the Program, the promotion of the World Rafting Championship, which will last from May 25 to July 1, 2022, has officially begun.
